Well hello there you lovely person! Welcome to the inner most thoughts of my soul. I hope the things I post will be useful to you. You might be a bit confused as to why there is only one author yet two separate blogs...well that's just because I'm a little different (aren't we all) and I can't fit myself into one (socially accepted) stereotype. So I created names for the two stereotypes I identify with and they sorta became different people/characters for me: Seth and Basil. I will be writing blog posts that are relevant to each stereotype under their respective blogs. Now of course you must be wondering, what in the world are these stereotypes? Glad you asked! I shall explain (and here we go)
Seth: In junior high I decided I would be a skater girl/punk/emo girl/ scene girl/ gamer chick/ fantasy freak/ wallflower weird child. Did you get all that? haha...Basically Seth is the girl in me that embraces her childlikeness in everyway...with a hint of teenager angst thrown into the mix. Seth is important because without her, the things that fascinate me would never quite fully capture my attention. The things that I valued in my junior high years made me who I am and I cannot ignore the things that I grew up with and have come to treasure so dearly. Seth is the strong silent type; never complaining and always enduring. She also represents my more aggressive and competitive nature. She is the defender and protector in me, the lively spirit that provides me with energy and drives me to better myself physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Basil: I think it wasn't until senior year of high school that I finally grew up a bit. I learned a lot throughout high school, but the summer before senior year was when I learned the most. I experienced a plethora of changes and subsequently I found that I had also changed. And thus, Basil was born. I did not like Basil at first, I found her too open, annoyingly talkative, and much too vulnerable for my taste. But, it was like, I couldn't stop myself from being her. The things that had made me change were irreversible and I'm glad they happened because in all honesty, Basil is why I am able to recognize these different things inside of me. Basil is honest, nurturing, thoughtful, gentle, patient, and feminine. She is the girl in me that knows she needs to be responsible and yet recognizes the need to rely on people outside of herself. Basil is the girl in me who loves to sit quietly with tea or coffee and read a good book, or journal...or blog! She is the all natural beauty.
Together these two make up who I am...somehow Seth and Basil make up Stephaney. I am the combination of the two...neither one is more important than the other even if they seem a bit contradicting. Obviously the two stereotypes don't sum up EVERYTHING I am as there are some key points I've missed in describing myself. I'm hoping that describing the two stereotypes at least adds some insight into why the blogs are so different yet somehow the same. You will see the topics vary between the two, but the voice will always be undoubtedly my own. Maybe you will find one side more relatable than another...either way...enjoy what you read and please talk to me about your thoughts...my passion is and always will be PEOPLE!!!!
Until our next correspondence,
Stephaney
